Advanced Engineered Wood Composites Center (AEWC)
The AEWC Center is a state-of-the-art "one-stop shop" for integrated composite-materials/structural-component development. It conducts research leading to commercial development of the next generation of cost-effective, high-performance, wood composite construction materials. The Center's personnel include highly qualified, experienced and recognized professionals in numerous fields related to research, development and commercialization of wood-nonwood composites and structures.
Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC)
The mission of the AMC program is to link the traditional University of Maine activities of education and research with the active industrial support and economic development programs. The AMC offers state-of-the-art machining and test equipment for product and process development, which includes Material Cutting and Machining Process Development; Rapid Prototyping & Reverse Engineering; Short-Term Production Services; and Advanced Engineering Support (CAM/CAE). The AMC employs many UMaine students to perform both design and production work.
Pulp and Paper Process Development Center
The Pulp and Paper Process Development Center is equipped with world class pilot facilities. It primarily serves educational needs, as well as offers a unique service to the industry with particular emphasis on pulp and paper manufacturing and affiliated businesses. The center has the capability to provide services in areas ranging from pulp making, paper making, to performance test for pulp and paper products.
Department of Forest Management
The Department of Forest Management at the University of Maine provides excellence in education, research, and public service that promotes the understanding, efficient use, and sustainable management of forest resources for the well-being of Maine, the United States, and the world.
College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture (NSFA)
In addition to forestry, wildlife, and a full selection of natural resource-based programs, students can choose programs of study from the full spectrum of biological sciences, marine science, geological science, and food science and nutrition.
